What does Oda think about his worldwide fanbase?

Narutos writer once said in a Q&A that he pays no attention to peoples opinions outside of Japan unless its praise. I kinda lost respect for him after that because he seems kinda ungrateful, the support Naruto gets is massive.

Has Oda ever said anything about his fans outside of Japan/Asia? I hope he doesnt think theres not that much appeal like some people suggest.. I mean i know its not as popular as Naruto and...
